Save This Life Microchip Company Closes its Doors, Leaving Some Pet Owners Confused.
"Save This Life," a company that provided microchip registration for pets (very few local to the Texas Panhandle), recently closed its doors. This means that if your pet is lost and their "Save This Life" brand microchip is scanned, it will not come up in any database for veterinarians, shelters, rescues, and the like to use.
What to do as a pet owner?
1.) Verify What Company Your Pet's Microchip is Registered with:
Any microchips administered by Swann Animal Clinic will be registered with Home Again or Pet Link. If you're unsure of what company your pet is registered with, you'll need to follow these easy steps:
- Identify your pet's microchip number. This is generally listed on all vaccine certificates from your veterinary clinic.
- If you don't have your pet's number, you can bring it to any veterinarian, and they scan the microchip for you. This number will tell us what company your pet is registered with.
- Check where your pet's microchip is registered: Microchip Registry
2.) Register Your Pet's Microchip: If you discover your pets microchip is not registered, or you have verified your pet received a "Save This Life" Microchip, you need to register their chip with another database.

3.) Verify Your Information
We recommend pet owners verify the phone number, e-mail address, and physical address listed on their pet's microchips are up-to-date at least once a year. If something has changed, please update it with your pet's microchip company or your veterinarian to keep the information as accurate as possible.
4.) Microchip Your Pets
Do you have unchipped pets in your household? Schedule an appointment to help make reunification easy if your pet is lost, stolen, on an unplanned adventure, or for countless other reasons pets go missing.
